Kids who are active and involved in sports are more likely to do better in school and lead healthier lifestyles as adults. Through Wisconsin Shooters Basketball, we develop and encourage the growth of young athletes by teaching leadership, teamwork, sportsmanship and the joy of physical activity— because we want our kids to be champions on and off the court.
Wisconsin Shooters Basketball was founded in 1987 focusing on providing a quality basketball experience to youths across the state of Wisconsin. Taking a break from competition after the 2004 season, in 2010, a group of former Wisconsin Shooters players and coaches took the challenge of resurrecting the program with a new, competitive and fresh take on basketball development and teaching while competing on the spring/summer travel circuit.
Wisconsin Shooters Basketball intends to identify and pursue the top youth basketball players in the State of Wisconsin. The goal is to field extremely competitive teams to help increase the visibility of Wisconsin basketball and it's players at the regional and national levels.
Wisconsin Shooters Basketball will field 11 teams for the 2014 spring/summer season. The program will have one boys team at the u16, u14, u13, u12, u11, u10 and u9 divisions with two boys teams assembled at the u17 and u15 divisions. There will be one girls team assembled at the u11 level. In future years, the program may elect to form additional teams.
The Wisconsin Shooters Basketball Club is a subordinate under the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU). The Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) is one of the largest, non-profit, volunteer, sports organizations in the United States. A multi-sport organization, the AAU is dedicated exclusively to the promotion and development of amateur sports and physical fitness programs. The purpose of the AAU Boys' Basketball Program is to initiate, stimulate, and improve opportunities for amateur boys' basketball competition, and to promote and develop leadership, sportsmanship, physical fitness, educational opportunities, and athletic excellence.
